A pipe organ, most likely first built as a chamber organ for a large private house. C. 1800-1850 quite possibly including earlier material and subsequently modified (keraulophon). Some elements- keyboards, music desk, shifting pedals, action, soundboards and constructional detail could well be earlier.
The case is made of solid mahogany in a classical style with an impressive broken cornice and plinth. Clearly designed or redesigned to provide full length 8ft pipes and a 16ft Bourdon in a space with relatively low headroom. This makes the organ eminently suitable for re-siting, the Bellows appears to be in reasonable condition and there is a modern B.O.B Blower. The internal metal pipework is ‘spotted metal’, the swell wooden flutes have pierced stoppers. By mechanical contrivance both keyboards appear to share a common 8ft stopped flute bass. Included is what looks like an earlier straight and flat pedalboard (the original?) and sundry pipework which is thought not to have anything to do with this instrument.
